I originally built Writing Design Criticism as a repository for the articles produced by me and my classmates in a class of the same name, taught by design writer David Sokol at RISD during the Spring 2006 semester. After the class ended, I continued to maintain the site as a home for design criticism articles, with Mr. Sokol's curatorial assistance. One can find articles on Writing Design Criticism have been published on everything from SpeakUp to 2+3D.

The site itself is extremely lightweight: with the exception of the 2x2-pixel backgrounds and the header image file, everything you see on Writing Design Criticism is pure HTML and CSS. Since Writing Design Criticism is a text-heavy site aimed at a visually oriented audience, a background script is employed to reveal inline HTML links only within the section in which the mouse is focused.
