When I arrived at RPI in early 2002, I immediately re-"skinned" both the main site for Arts department, and the site for EMAC, an undergraduate degree program jointly administered by the Arts department and RPI's Department of Language, Literature, and Communication. For these interim sites, I gave each site a distinct visual system and color palette, while employing a unified grid and type scheme across each design.
